To get started simply click on the section about the information you need and keep going from there. Since this is the official website through the State of Montana, it contains the most up to date and accurate information available and charges nominal fees for the information.

There are other websites that claim to be free or very reasonable, however, these are outside companies not connected with the Montana DMV. Not only do they charge the official Montana state fees for records and information, but they also add on their own fees and sometimes have hidden fees that have a way of showing up on your credit card without your knowledge or consent because of their “fine print.”

So, try to go through the official website to get your information. If you can’t find it and you have exhausted every avenue call and talk to someone at the DMV before going to an outside site. Montana, along with many states, has made it easier to find the information you are looking for.

Right now it is especially important to check with the BMV branch nearest you if you plan to go there in person. There are some locations that are currently closed due to the effects and results of winter weather. You can check to see if the location you want to go to is open or not by clicking on locations. Wisconsin does not have a public office or counter to request driving records, so the contact information above is the way you will have to order any driving records you need. In addition, it is important to get the information you need by going directly to the official website above. There are many sites that are independent and offer information and documents. Some of them are legitimate, but the majority of them have hidden fees and often little or no information or outated/inaccurate information.

California is one of the states that is trying to do as much DMV business online, both to help consumers, save time and to save resources.  If you are looking for driving records, you can click on the square either on the top of the page or the middle of the page entitled “Forms”, then click on driving records and you will be taken to the page that has the information and form to request the records you need.  Though there are  great many online services on the site, if you wish to visit the Department of Motor Vehicles in person there is also a list of addresses and phone numbers so that you can find the office closest to where you live.

Listed at the top and the bottom of the main page is contact information, as well as a list of all online services and a heading at the left side of the page to click on to email the Department of Motor Vehicles, which is entitled Automated Email. This information can be helpful especially in the event that you need certain records that are sealed or restricted.

North Dakota has definitely tried to provide plenty of information and services online and/or by phone so that customers do not have to make a trip to their local office unless truly necessary.  Of course, there are independent sites that offer information, however, they usually charge extra fees and their information is not always as accurate and up to date as the official sites.
